Why do I hear crackling noises during a call?

Possible causes:

  1. The distance between the Bluetooth headset and the mobile phone.
  2. The distance and materials separating your Bluetooth headset from your mobile phone significantly affect crackling static noise.  To reduce this noise, place your mobile phone on the same side of the body as your Bluetooth headset. For example, if you wear the Bluetooth headset in your right ear, make sure that your mobile phone or device is also on the right side of your body.
  3. Surrounding objects emitting high radio frequencies.
  4. When using your Bluetooth headset, stay away from objects emitting radio frequencies such as: Microwave ovens, Wi-Fi links, wireless alarms, and other Bluetooth and RF devices.
  5. Mobile phones not supporting frequency hopping and/or eSCO.
  6. Older mobile phones may not support frequency hopping or eSCO; as a result, crackling noise will be more noticeable. To avoid this issue, make sure that your mobile phone supports frequency hopping and/or eSCO. Most modern phones do.
