Sennheiser Communications launches “VoIP for Office solution” wideband headsets
Enhanced call performance from Sennheiser Communications intelligent range of new “VoIP for Office solution” wideband headsets. For businesses and users of VoIP communication software who demand true wideband audio and comfort calls.
The number of operators in the Voice over IP (VoIP) systems market has grown at a substantial rate, making it possible to talk to colleagues all over the world for free. Smart businesses have jumped at the chance to install VoIP and now the global unified communication market is expected to reach a turnover of $13.4 billion by 2013*.
Saving on landline charges, streamlining communication processes and increasing productivity; businesses are reaping the financial benefits of VoIP. Quality headsets are the vital component for maximizing clear communication in the fast expanding universe of live audio conversation, which is facilitated by Internet-based telephony systems.
Sennheiser Communications wideband technology
“VoIP for Office solution” targets all customers who demand true wideband audio when using professional wired headsets connected to PC softphones or IP desk phones. The result is HD (high definition) voice clarity and thereby improved call quality when placing PC-to-PC calls via VoIP services while using Sennheiser Communications headsets and a wideband supported communication line.
Wideband technology operates by providing a more natural and warm sound, capturing more speech details at high and low frequencies. Compared with traditional narrowband, wideband speech technology offers better sound quality and speech recognition. The benefits are increased productivity and less fatigue on business calls.
Achieved with Sennheiser Communications’ intelligent speaker and microphone designs, this notable standard has been developed to meet the Wideband TIA 920 standard required by many phone manufacturers. Products from the existing range have been upgraded and are distinguished by an ID code ending with the digits ‘IP’.
New wideband headsets
Sennheiser Communications CC and SH product lines have been expanded to include the following seven wideband products, all of which boast a host of benefits:
- SH 230 IP A cost-efficient premium sound monaural headset
- SH 230 IP USB Same performance and specifications as SH 230 IP but with USB connector
- SH 330 IP A quality classic, lightweight monaural headset designed for longer conversations
- SH 350 IP Channels perfect quality sound to both ears for sustained levels of concentration during conversations
- CC 515 IP an extremely robust monaural headset with extra large ear cap for enhanced fit and comfort
- CC 520 IP A quality performance binaural headset for maximum productivity
- CC 550 IP A top-of-the-line headset offering precision sound to both ears for optimal understanding
Comfort and safety
In addition to Sennheiser’s superior sound experience, the wideband headset range comes complete with innovative ActiveGard™ technology, which protects against acoustic shock and sudden sound surges for professional frequent phoners, symptoms of which include headaches, tinnitus, and even loss of hearing. Wearers benefit from the technology in a number of specific ways:
- Sound pressure is limited at a level of 103 dB
- Dangerous energy from an acoustic burst is not just reduced but removed
- Distortion from an excessive incoming signal is eliminated
- Volume of a sound peak is kept at a safe and comfortable level
- The often too slow instinctive human reaction of covering ears or removing the source is replaced
- Allows safer and stress-free working when using a headset
Call Control
Completing the line-up, Sennheiser Communications is simultaneously launching two new Call Control units. These can be used with wideband product lines, but also accommodate customers with narrowband headsets who prefer not to trade up to wideband models – enabling existing headsets to connect to softphones. The units are:
- UUSB 8 Wired Call Control works with both SH and CC series headsets, which have easy disconnect
- UUSB 9 Wireless Call Control is for VMX Office and allows users to connect from a PC to a base station
Guido Karbautzki, Head of Sales and Marketing, at Sennheiser Communications says: “Sennheiser Communications understands the importance of enhanced sound quality, comfort, and safety for all purchasers of business communication devices for the office; our professional headsets deliver on all three factors. By eliminating issues that can impair PC-to-PC communication, our wideband headsets ultimately help all users to increase their productivity.”
