In January this year two of the most successful enterprises in the fields of electroacoustics, transmission technology and digital signal processing - the Danish company William Demant Holding A/S and the German company Sennheiser electronic GmbH & Co. KG - got together in a joint venture. The joint company Sennheiser Communications A/S is about to present its complete PC headset range at the IFA trade fair. This will be followed in October by the full line-up for office and call centre applications.
Paul Whiting and Jeppe Dalberg-Larsen, directors of the Copenhagen-based Sennheiser Communications A/S, have their sights on three growth markets for headsets: call centres, office applications (SoHo) and private PC users. Paul Whiting puts the customer potential at some 5 to 6 million call centres, 300 million users in the office segment and 400 million PC and multimedia users. "We expect these last two groups to generate substantial growth on the headset market,? says Whiting, commenting on market segment prospects. The headsets, now on the market, offer ideal solutions for intensive PC users. And two of the models can even be used with a DECT phone or mobile."
Until now the worldwide market has been almost entirely shared between a Danish and an American company. "With high quality standards, innovative products and modern design we can set new standards for the competition. And since, as we all know, competition is good for business, it is ultimately the customer who will benefit," explains Jeppe Dalberg-Larsen.
